The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) is pleased to announce that the joint call for Canada-Germany research proposals on sustainable processes and chemistry is now open. This call is the first between NSERC and DFG to accept a single collaborative research proposal from research teams in Canada and Germany that will undergo a scientific review process led by DFG. Researchers can request $20,000 to $100,000 for up to three years. This call includes two stage application process whereby Canadian researchers must first submit a modified Alliance International collaboration grant application to NSERC by December 7. NSERC and Natural Resources Canada are pleased to announce a new partnership to fund research on small modular reactors through NSERC's Alliance grants program. Through these grants, NRCan will provide up to $100K, for up to 4 years, to co-fund research projects through NSERC's Alliance grants program. Alliance Mission Grants: Anthropogenic greenhouse gas research International

NSERC has announced a new Alliance Mission grants call for proposals called "Anthropogenic greenhouse gas research". This call will support the goals of the 2022 Federal Budget that prioritizes Canada’s ongoing efforts to fight climate change and protect the environment by taking bold and immediate action to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, while strengthening the Canadian economy with sustainable jobs and clean industrial growth. Grants will provide support from $100,000 to $500,000 per year for a duration of three years. Letter of Intent is due September 15, 2022 and full applications are due November 8, 2022. Alliance Consortia Grants International Verified Date

In Budget 2021, Canada committed to launch a National Quantum Strategy (NQS) to amplify Canada's significant strengths in quantum research. As part of this new strategy, NSERC has launched the Alliance Consortia Quantum grants program with a special call to support coordinated quantum research and innovation across Canada. Projects may be funded from $500,000 to $1 million for a period of 3-5 years. Proposals submitted in response to the present call must be for projects that require a large-scale coordinated approached, beyond any one of Canada's regional quantum hubs, to develop and apply quantum technologies that will benefit Canada. The Special Response Fund for Trainees (Ukraine) is administered by Canada’s three federal research funding agencies – CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC – and provides support to graduate students and postdoctoral researchers directly impacted by the Russian regime’s invasion of Ukraine.
