German Research Foundation: Initiation of International Collaboration
This grant serves to establish collaboration between German universities and international partners. Applications must be submitted by German researchers.
Researchers who have already achieved their doctorates and who are based at a German research institution in Germany or abroad can apply. Special rules apply to members of non-university research institutions (see guidelines). All disciplines are eligible for the grant.
Eligible activities and duration:
Three different modules are available. The modules may be combined, if doing so will enable cooperation preparations to be made particularly effectively. The available modules are:
- Trips abroad (max. three months)
- Guest visits in Germany (max. three month);
- Exploratory workshops
- prepare a specific joint project, or
- explore possibilities of specific, topic-related collaboration
International conferences, the implementation of joint research projects or meetings of research networks are not eligible for this grant.
Where such agreements exist, these measures may also be funded jointly by partner organizations abroad.
The funding will be available for a maximum of 12 months after the approval date, and the individual collaborative measures must be carried out within this period.
Application and deadline:
Although applications can be submitted at any time, it is strongly recommended to submit proposals no later than six months before the start of the activity.
