Climate Action and Awareness Fund

The Climate Action and Awareness Fund (CAAF) was created with contributions from the existing Climate Action Fund, as well as a significant investment from the Environmental Damages Fund to invest up to a total of up to $206 million in supporting climate awareness and engagement and scientific and technical research on climate change. The CAAF has three main priorities: supporting youth climate awareness and community-based climate action, supporting climate research at Canadian think-tanks and in academia, and advancing science and technology priorities in support of Canada’s climate goals. This request for proposal supports community-based climate action projects that take place within Canada and/or the benefits of the project activities must accrue to Canadians.

Value: The minimum funding request is $100,000 and the maximum is $6,000,000. Matching contributions are strongly encouraged.

Eligibility: Lead applicants are not-for-profit governmental organizations, Indigenous organizations, and/or universities and academic institutions.
