Discovery Grants, Department of National Defence Supplement

The Department of National Defense (DND) and NSERC have launched a joint funding initiative, aim to support unclassified university-based research dedicated to the development of non-weapon specific technologies with dual-use applications in defence and security target areas. The supplement is worth up to $120,000 over three years, in addition to the DG funding.

 

Eligibility: Must apply for a current NSERC Discovery Grant, and fall within DND target areas including: Autonomous Systems, Information Management and Data Science for Decision Making, Decision Making Enhancement in Distributed Environments, Advanced Sensing, Resilient Networked Systems, Explosive Hazard Avoidance, Blast Characterization and Mitigation, Next Generation Systems, Materials and Signatures.

Applications to the DG competition will require a justification of how the proposed research falls within the DND target areas. No additional application to the DND is required. .
