IDEaS Fifth Call for Proposals

The Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS) Program has launched six new challenges under Competitive Projects covering a wide scope of Department of National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF) needs, including real-time surveillance, rotary blade maintenance, antennas, and greenhouse gas reduction. The IDEaS Program is looking forward to seeing the cutting edge work being developed by innovators for these new challenges: 

1. Worth a Thousand Sources: A fused Picture for Continental Surveillance

2. We Sea You: Digital Tracking and Accounting on Navy Vessels

3. Erosion from Motion: Reducing Wear and Tear on Rotary Blades

4. Wireless is Where It's At: Secure and Seamless Wireless Network Onboard Ships

5. Less GHGs on the Seas: Practical Solutions to Measure and Record Energy Consumption 

6. Green Heat: Low Carbon Energy Generation for Heating Existing Buildings 

Eligibility: 

This Call for Proposals (CFP) is open to individuals, academia and industry.  

Funding: 

Funding of up to $200,000 will be provided for innovative solutions to help advance this defence challenge over a performance period of up to 6 months. There is a potential opportunity for further funding of up to $1 million for a performance period of up to a year should the solution be found successful and promising by DND/CAF.

Deadline: 

Challanges # 1 through #5 are set to close on October 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM PST. 

Challenge #6 ("Green Heat") will close Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 2pm EST.
