Operating Grant: Addressing the Wider Health Impacts of COVID-19

This funding opportunity is part of Government of Canada's continued rapid response to address the health challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding will enable rapid and timely research responding to the current and next phase of the wider impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada and around the globe.
Funds Available
- The maximum amount per grant that can be requested for clinical trial research is $1,000,000 over 2 years.
- The maximum amount per grant that can be requested for all other types of research is $500,000 over 2 years.

Eligibility
For an application to be eligible:
- The Nominated Principal Applicant (NPA) must be:
- an independent researcher or a knowledge user affiliated with a Canadian postsecondary institution and/or its affiliated institutions at the time of funding;
- If the Nominated Principal Applicant is a knowledge user, there must be at least one Principal Applicant who is an independent researcher.
OR
- an individual affiliated with an Indigenous non-governmental organization in Canada with a research and/or knowledge translation mandate;
OR
- an Indigenous non-governmental organization in Canada with a research and/or knowledge translation mandate.
- an independent researcher or a knowledge user affiliated with a Canadian postsecondary institution and/or its affiliated institutions at the time of funding;
- The Nominated Principal Applicant must have successfully completed one of the sex- and gender-based analysis training modules available online through the CIHR Institute of Gender and Health and submit a Certificate of Completion.
- For applications by and with First Nations, Inuit, Métis and/or Urban Indigenous communities, the research team must include:
- at least one Principal Applicant (may be the Nominated Principal Applicant) who self-identifies as First Nations, Inuit or Métis must demonstrate a track record of meaningful and culturally safe involvement with Indigenous Peoples.
- an Indigenous Elder and/or an Indigenous Knowledge Keeper identified on the application as a Principal Knowledge User or Knowledge User.
- An individual or organization can only submit one application as a Nominated Principal Applicant within this competition. If the Nominated Principal Applicant submits more than one application, CIHR will automatically withdraw the last application(s) submitted based on time-stamp of submission.
Deadlines:
Registration: October 18, 2021
Full Application: November 8, 2021
SFU Signature Sheet, CIHR Routing Slip and Full Application must be submitted three business days before the Full Application deadline. Note that the CIHR Routing Slip must be signed by ORS and uploaded to the portal as part of the application.
