Operating Grant: Summer Program in Aging - Planning Grant

The intent of this funding opportunity is to provide a planning grant to host the 2023 CIHR Institute of Aging’s Summer Program in Aging (SPA). SPA is the Institute of Aging’s flagship training program for graduate students. It is an intensive training program with the aim of providing graduate students and postdoctoral fellows involved in research on aging with a program of advanced training that crosses disciplines, sectors, institutions, and geography. The program brings together approximately 50 research trainees and numerous academic mentors in order to participate in interactive learning sessions.

Funds Available

  • The total amount available for this funding opportunity is $100,000, enough to fund one grant.
  • The SPA host will also receive a registration fee of $250/trainee, to be paid by the trainee’s supervisor prior to SPA 2023. This expectation will be outlined in the 2023 SPA trainee award, to be launched in Fall 2022.
