Mitacs Globalink Research Award - General Call

The SFU-Mitacs GRA program has been put on hold until further notice and we are not accepting applications at this time. For any questions, please contact research_mobility@sfu.ca.
This SFU-Mitacs Globalink Research Award - General call invites proposals that demonstrate alignment with SFU's research priorities as articulated in the SFU Research Strategic Plan. The Award aims to support emerging and developing research collaborations between SFU and international collaborators that have potential to lead to long-term and multifaceted research collaborations that advance the University’s strategic interests.
Eligibility:
-
PIs must hold a faculty position at an eligible institution
-
PIs must be eligible to supervise graduate students
-
Supervisors at Canadian institutions: Must be eligible to hold Tri-Agency funding
Funding:
C$6,000 is available per student dedicated fully to student stipend; research costs should be covered by the host supervisor.
PIs are required to contribute C$2,000 towards the C$6000 award per participating student. Please note that contributions cannot come from Tri-agency funds. PIs must confirm the eligibility of the matching funds at the time of the application submission.
PIs must confirm via email or in the "Additional Information" section of the Signature Sheet that:

matching funds are not Tri-Agency funds; and
-
if matching funds are drawn from an externally sponsored research project with a restricted budget (i.e. funds are restricted to being used only for specific research activities), a PI has received the sponsor’s approval to use the funds for the MITACS-related purposes.

Key Dates for Application Process:
Step 1: SFU PI to submit a Project Proposal – Deadline: July 25, 2022
Step 2: Submit a Mitacs Student Application – Deadline: August 23, 2022
Step 3: Mitacs results - October – December 2022
Step 4: Start of project – Spring 2023
