CSA CUBICS Program

The CSA is proud to announce the launch of CUBICS, a new opportunity for post-secondary professors to engage students in a real space mission. The CSA plans to award a total of $3,4M in grants to up to 12 teams. Building upon lessons learned from the Canadian CubeSat Project (CCP), CUBICS has been designed with two streams:
· Stream 1. Standalone Scientific Payload Project: For teams that would like to focus on developing a scientific payload for a CubeSat, including teams that are new to space projects. The CSA may provide access for recipients to test their payload on an aircraft or a stratospheric balloon.
· Stream 2. End-to-End CubeSat Projet: For teams that have demonstrated experience in the development of a CubeSat. Teams will have the opportunity to design, build and test a CubeSat. The CSA may provide recipients with the opportunity to launch and operate their CubeSat in space to conduct a science experiment.
The CSA intends to make CUBICS a recurring opportunity to continue to stimulate student learning for years to come and enable the academic community to build their space-related capacity. To support the Government’s fight against climate change, projects that aim to increase our understanding of the causes and effects of climate change and/or that will contribute to fighting climate change may be prioritized.
