Breakthrough Prizes

The Breakthrough Prizes recognize those individuals who have made profound contributions to human knowledge in fundamental physics, life sciences, and mathematics. The Breakthrough Prize in Physics is open to all physicists — theoretical, mathematical, experimental — working on the deepest mysteries of the Universe. The Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences honors transformative advances toward understanding living systems and extending human life. The Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics rewards significant discoveries across the many branches of the subject. Laureates receive $3 million each in prize money and engage in a program of lectures and discussions.
Note:If institutional nomination/external expert review is sought (individuals may also nominate candidates outside of the institutional process), please submit a candidate suggestion form at least three months in advance of the external deadline to recommend a candidate to the President’s Advisory Committee on Awards, Honours and Prizes.
