Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Gold Leaf Prizes

CIHR’s suite of prizes, the CIHR Gold Leaf Prizes, are among the highest honours that can be bestowed on an individual or team for excellence in health research and its translation into benefits for Canadians. These prizes cover achievements across all pillars of research (biomedical, clinical, health services and policy, and population and public health). There are four categories:
- CIHR Gold Leaf Prize for Discovery (for unique, inspirarational and groundbreaking findings)
- CIHR Gold Leaf Prize for Impact (for a proven impact on health outcomes, practices, policies and/or health care system)
- CIHR Gold Leaf Prize for Outstanding Achievements by an Early Career Investigator (within 10 yrs of faculty appointment)
- CIHR Gold Leaf Prize for Transformation (for transformative leadership in a priority area)
Established in 2016, the prizes will be awarded biennially with competitions closing in even-numbered years. Each prize has a value of $100,000.
