Henry G. Friesen International Prize in Health Research

The Henry G. Friesen International Prize in Health Research was established in recognition of the distinguished leadership, vision and innovative contributions of Dr. Henry G. Friesen. Award consists of a cash prize of $35,000 CAD plus up to $5,000 for travel and hospitality costs. The prize supports an annual Public Lecture at a major Canadian academic institution. Through the partnership of CBC Radio One “Ideas”, a recorded interview is broadcast nationally to reach the broadest possible audience. A manuscript is also published in the “Friesen Prize Lecture” series.
Eligibility: Nominees with vision who have had an impact in health research and health research policy at an international level. Outstanding communication skills are essential as the winner must be able to address topics important to the nation on a level appropriate for broad public dissemination.
Note: Restricted nominator (member of FCIHR or CAHS, President and Deans of Medicine of Canadian universities). If institutional nomination is sought (individuals may also nominate candidates outside of the institutional process), please submit a candidate suggestion form three months in advance of the external deadline to recommend a candidate to the President’s Advisory Committee on Awards, Honours and Prizes.
