Ship Time Program
The Ship Time Funding Program is aimed at researchers who require additional funds to access vessels in support of their Discovery Grant-supported research in the coming years.
If your are a new applicant you must apply for a Ship Time supplement in addition to your Discovery Grant on September 1st (of a given year), and you must also submit a Notification of Intent (NOI) for a DG on August 1st a month before. The Ship Time application would be assessed during the fall-period and the results would be conditional on the awarding of DG-funds in April of that competition year. The funds for Ship Time and for DG both would flow to the university on April 1st of that competition year.
If you already hold a DG or it is in the final auto-extension year of your DG-funding, then a successful Ship Time application would be funded in April, with no conditions. Also, NSERC does not consider requests for supplements to existing Ship Time grants or ship time associated with other NSERC programs.
The normal duration of a Ship Time grant is one year.
SFU signature sheet due to email@example.com and application in submit mode no later than 3 business days before agency deadline.
