CIHR IPPH Trailblazer Award in Population and Public Health Research

The CIHR-IPPH Trailblazer Award in Population and Public Health Research is a career achievement award that recognizes exceptional contributions in the area of population and public health research. Applicants must have made substantial impacts on the field of population health and its use in policy and/or practice in Canada and/or internationally. The award also recognizes the leadership, mentorship, and innovative contributions of the recipients.
Value: Up to three $12,500 awards will be given, for exceptional researchers at different career stages.
Eligibility: For the early career pool, the applicant must be within 5 years of most recent qualifying degree; mid-career is 6-15 years, senior is >15 years. This is an application that must be supported by a nomination. The nominee must be nominated by a member of the Canadian health research community and endorsed by the executive head of the institution through a letter of support. Nominators may have previously worked or be currently working with an individual they nominate
Note: These nominations require institutional endorsement. The candidate must be nominated by a member of the Canadian health research community and endorsed by the candidate's institution. Institutional Strategic Awards (ISA) coordinates the internal selection of nominees and/or institutional endorsements. To promote equity, diversity and inclusion, departments and faculties should ensure that all eligible candidates are considered and given the opportunity to self-identify. To recommend a candidate to the President’s Advisory Committee on Awards, Honours and Prizes, please submit a candidate suggestion form by the internal deadline.
