Royal Society of Canada (RSC) John L. Synge Award

The award is given for outstanding research in any of the branches of the mathematical sciences. In cases where there are two or more strong candidates, some preference is given to those whose age is not over forty in the year of the award. Offered in irregular intervals.
Note: There are two routes for nomination: (1) by a Fellow, and supported by two other nominators, or (2) by Institutional Members, supported by two other nominators, neither of whom needs to be a Fellow. Institutional Members may nominate a max. of one candidate for every Medal or Award being offered each year. If an institutional nomination is sought, please contact Institutional Strategic Awards at awards@sfu.ca well in advance of the listed internal deadline.
Awarded in irregular intervals (the next opportunity will be in 2021), the competition typically opens in mid-January and closes at the beginning of March with an internal deadline in the preceding December (deadlines will be reviewed and verified annually).
