Royal Society of Canada (RSC) Lorne Pierce Medal

The medal is awarded for an achievement of special significance and conspicuous merit in imaginative or critical literature written in either English or French (critical literature dealing with Canadian subjects has priority over critical literature of equal merit that does not deal with Canadian subjects). The gold plated silver medal is offered every two years if there is a suitable candidate.

The biennial competition (even years) typically opens in January and closes in March with an internal deadline in the preceding autumn (deadlines will be reviewed and verified annually).

Note:All nominations must be initiated by RSC Fellows or Institutional Members (IMs). Institutional Members may nominate a max. of one candidate for every Medal or Award being offered each year. Institutional Strategic Awards (ISA) coordinates the internal selection of nominees for institutional nomination. To promote equity, diversity and inclusion, departments and faculties should ensure that all eligible candidates are considered and given the opportunity to self-identify. To recommend a candidate to the President’s Advisory Committee on Awards, Honours and Prizes, please submit a candidate suggestion form by the internal deadline.
