Royal Society of Canada (RSC) Willet G. Miller Medal

Twelve friends of Willet G. Miller (1867-1925), FRSC, a distinguished geologist and a guiding force in the development of the Ontario mining industry, subscribed funds in 1941 to provide the Willet G. Miller Medal for geology. This medal is offered for outstanding research in the solid earth sciences and a second in the ocean and atmospheric sciences, if suitably worthy candidates are nominated.
Note: There are two routes for nomination: (1) by a Fellow, and supported by two other nominators, or (2) by Institutional Members, supported by two other nominators, neither of whom needs to be a Fellow. Institutional Members may nominate a max. of one candidate for every Medal or Award being offered each year. If an institutional nomination is sought, please contact Institutional Strategic Awards at awards@sfu.ca well in advance of the listed internal deadline.
The biennial competition (even years) typically opens in mid-January and closes at the beginning of March with an internal deadline in the preceding December (deadlines will be reviewed and verified annually).
